I wish that Owlcrate could have at least added some sprayed edges or some other cool customization that would have made this a more exclusive edition. I’ll admit that the cover does a nice job of retaining the overall vibe of the original cover, but in the end, it doesn’t appeal to me, especially after seeing Fairyloot’s edition. The smoke in the background behind the main character is now a teal color, which does help to give the book some nice spooky vibes, but it’s still pretty subtle and dark, at least on the mock-up. Owlcrate’s edition as gold/bronze text as opposed to the original silver. Their edition of Vespertine unfortunately has a more subtle and fairly lackluster change, especially when compared to the original cover. Other’s are much more subtle, like the text color change on their edition of Girls of Paper and Fire, or the background color change on their edition of A Sweet and Bitter Magic. Sometimes it’s a major color change, like their gorgeous silver and purple edition of Star Daughter. With a few exceptions (From their monthly boxes, The Cruel Prince, Incendiary, Grace and Fury, Scavenge the Stars, and Where Dreams Descend, have had major redesigns,) Owlcrate’s exclusive editions tend to be color change of some sort.
